At a glance

The General Manager (Bangkok) reports directly to the Chief Business Officer and is responsible for managing the Thailand team (covering Bangkok and Phuket) on all fronts. He or she will be expected to focus on business development through client acquisition while working directly with the sales and marketing executives. The candidate will also be required to grow and develop the various departments as well as the management team when deemed appropriate. Supported by the corporate office in Singapore, additional responsibilities will include recruitment, budgeting, and being responsible for the overall growth and development of Chope Thailand as an independent business unit.

About the role

  • Management of all employees based in Thailand, including recruitment, performance management, learning and development, and retention
  • Establish market KPIs with the CEO, and working to ensure those KPIs are reflected via the individual KPIs of employees
  • Build robust internal processes for scalability and improved efficiency
  • Grow restaurant client base within all local markets
  • Grow reservation numbers within all local markets
  • Develop a strategic marketing plan as well as tactical marketing initiatives in order to drive reservations and branding in local markets
  • Build sufficient brand presence and reservations volume to be able to sustain additional Chope revenue channels of paid marketing and ecommerce
  • Grow ecommerce revenue once it launches in local markets
  • Track and evaluate all data regarding local execution, making improvements to sales, operations, and marketing processes where necessary
  • Establish strategic marketing and business partnerships across industries to increase the reach and distribution

Skills & experiences required

  • Minimum of 4-5 years management experience preferably in sales or business development
  • Experience in guiding and developing a multi-national team of 5-10 people, as well as in identifying and recruiting talent when growing the team becomes an appropriate priority
  • Independent and result-driven mindset, with the ability to be productive and efficient with no supervision in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Basic computer literacy in the Microsoft Windows and Office suite of software
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Thai
  • Proven track record of cultivating a team able to exceed their targets

While not required, the following skills/experience will be favourably considered

  • Experience in the sale of restaurant-related information technology systems such as POS systems, ResPak etc.
  • Personal interest or passion in the Bangkok dining scene
  • Experience in e-commerce
  • Has own connections in food and beverage network
  • Experience with business intelligence or understanding data analysis in a business context
